DT Secretary

The DT Secretary of Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag Administration plays a key role in coordinating disaster risk management at local levels, in alignment with the national goal of creating a safe and happy Bhutan. The office works to reduce disaster risks through awareness, capacity building, policy support, and by guiding local administrations in disaster preparedness and response.

Mission

  1. Coordinate disaster risk management at the national and local levels in coordination with relevant agencies.
  2. Raise awareness on disaster risks and their mitigation/ prevention at all levels.
  3. Enhance and strengthen capacities of disaster management authorities at all levels.
  4. Support poverty alleviation through grant of relief after a disaster Provide support to the local administrations in preparation of their disaster management plans.
  5. Facilitate effective disaster management through development of various guidelines and legislative framework.
  6. Facilitating exchange of information, experience and expertise.

  • Develop and coordinate awareness raising and building capacities on disaster mitigation, preparedness and response.
  • Develop disaster management plans at all levels.
  • Maintain funds for disaster management.
  • Develop guidelines and legislation on disaster management.
  • Establish NEOC/ DEOC and maintain emergency communication network.
  • Facilitate EWS in the Dzongkhags.
